South Mountain - part 2

At Crampton's Gap the most prominent thing is the War Correspondent's Arch. Built by George Alfred Townsend as a monument to himself and his fellow war correspondents. It has names of a good many war correspondents, I'm sure it's not a complete list but its a significant number. There are no views down the ridge due to the trees but that was expected. There are a few markers at the gap and down the road, though there are few parking opportunities to see those markers. At the bottom of the gap we had a pretty good view of the valley. Picture opportunities were slim so all I have here is the arch and a detail from the arch.
