Our walk through the West Woods circled back towards the Dunker Church. Like Shiloh some of the brutal fighting swirled around a church. It used to seem odd but after studying the war for years these sort of things no longer seem odd. Unfortunate or ironic but hardly anything seems odd anymore. Today the church is a focal point of tours and photos. The Visitor's Center is just across the street so its a natural stopping point. The first picture is the view as you approach the church from the west as we ended our loop through the West Woods.
One morning I caught the first rays of the day shining on the church.
Obviously, the view from inside.
Sitting on a pew and shooting the Maryland monument through the door frame.
